Athens Kallithea FC announce the acquisition of Spanish attacking midfielder Hugo José Rama Calviño, 29, on a free transfer, pending receipt of an International Transfer Certificate.
Rama has made 128 career appearances with five goals and six assists in Spain’s Segunda División between CD Lugo, Real Oviedo, and hometown club Deportivo La Coruña, and has won two promotions to the Segunda División with Mirandés and Deportivo La Coruña.
Born in Oroso in the province of A Coruña, Rama passed through the academies of Galician clubs Celta Vigo, Xuventude Oroso, and Deportivo La Coruña. After beginning his senior career at another local side CCD Cerceda, Rama earned a transfer to the Segunda División with CD Lugo.
Rama enjoyed a breakout season in 2018/19 while on loan to Mirandés, making 40 appearances with seven goals and helping the club earn promotion to the second tier. Upon returning to Lugo, Rama would go on to make 72 appearances with four goals and six assists for the club between the Segunda División and the Copa del Rey over two-and-a-half seasons.
Rama moved to Real Oviedo in the middle of the 2021/22 season and would make 48 appearances with one goal and one assist over the next season-and-a-half, as the team finished 7th and 8th in the Segunda División, respectively, across the two seasons.
In September 2023, Rama returned to Deportivo La Coruña, and made 29 appearances with two goals and three assists in the 2023/24 season to help the club return to the Segunda División after a five-year absence. In the 2024/25 season, Rama made 15 league appearances (one start) for Depor.
Welcome, Hugo.
