In their first competitive match of the new season, AKFC were dominant in a 3-0 victory away to local rivals Ionikos in the Third Round of the 2023/24 Greek Cup.
AKFC used Route 1 to opening the scoring. In the 14th minute, goalkeeper Konstantinos Kotsaris punted long, Panagiotis Kynigopoulos won the ball in the air, and Giannis Loukinas chested down, held off two defenders, and poked it past the ‘keeper.
Just five minutes later, Javier Matilla doubled the advantage with a sublime free-kick, curling the ball into the top corner from an angle on the left wing.
AKFC remained in firm control through the first half, before putting the result beyond doubt in the 60th minute, when Theirry Moutinho shredded the defense from the left wing and set up Loukinas for a tap-in.
AKFC will travel to Kalamata for the Fourth Round on 27 September.
