Athens Kallithea FC and Stelios Malezas to part ways

Athens Kallithea FC announce that manager Stelios Malezas will not return to the club upon expiration of his contract this summer.

Malezas, 40, joined AKFC in January 2025, making his managerial debut in the Super League, and went on to register four wins and six losses in the regular season, followed by four wins, three draws, and three losses in the relegation play-outs, with the team ultimately suffering relegation by one point.

Stelios Malezas:

“After careful consideration, I have decided not to continue my coaching career in Super League 2. At this stage of my career, I feel it is best to seek new opportunities either in the Super League or abroad. I would like to sincerely thank Athens Kallithea, and especially Ted and Peter Philipakos, for the trust, collaboration, and respect they showed me. My experience at the club was meaningful — I worked with people who truly love the game, in a setting defined by professionalism and integrity. I wish the team the very best moving forward and will be following its progress with genuine interest.”

Ted and Peter Philipakos:

“We fully respect Stelios’ decision. He is a manager worthy of the Super League or any other high level football in Europe, and we sincerely wish him the the best of luck in pursuing the next step of his career. Although we fell just short of our goal this season, Stelios has demonstrated his talent and potential at a young age, and we are confident that he will achieve important things as a manager. We are very grateful for his efforts and for the respect and dignity with which he carried out his work. In the end, we are pleased that we are parting ways on good terms, and the door will always be open should things align for a return in the future. Thank you, Stelios.”
