José Romo

Born in Turén in the Venezuelan state of Portuguesa, Romo made his debut in Venezuela’s Primera División by the age of 17 and would feature in his country’s top division for Llanero, Deportivo Petare, ACD Lara, and Aragua before moving to Europe.
From Venezuela, Romo went on to a five-year spell in Cyprus — initially winning two consecutive promotions to the Cypriot First Division with Olympiakos Lefkosia and Karmiotissa, and going on to score 18 goals with nine assists in the Cypriot First Division for Karmiotissa, AEK Larnaka, and AEL Limassol. His time at AEK Larnaka including a second-place finish followed by appearances in UEFA Champions League qualification and the UEFA Europa League.
In July 2023, Romo landed in Greece with Levadiakos, scoring 11 goals to help the club win promotion to the Super League in 2023/24 and scoring another three goals for the club in the Super League in 2024/25.
After another year back in the Cypriot First Division with Akritas, registering six goals in the 2025/26 season, Romo joined AKFC in July 2026.
