Elhan Kastrati joins Athens Kallithea FC

Athens Kallithea FC announce the acquisition of Albania international goalkeeper Elhan Kastrati, 29, following the expiration of his contract with German 2. Bundesliga club Eintracht Braunschweig.

Kastrati has spent the majority of his career in Italy, making 173 career appearances in Serie B — conceding an average of 1.13 goals per match with 55 clean sheets — including a five-year spell as the number 1 goalkeeper at Cittadella.

Born in Krumë, Albania, Kastrati came through the academy of Teuta before moving to Italy at the age of 17 and joining Pescara. After loans to Piacenza in Serie C and back to Teuta in Albania’s top division, Kastrati made his first team debut for Pescara in a 2-1 win over Livorno in Serie B in September 2018, and would go on to make 15 total appearances for the club over the next season a half, before leaving for a half-season stint at Trapani to close out the 2019/20 season.

In summer 2020, Kastrati arrived at Cittadella and nearly earned promotion to Serie A in his debut season with the club, losing 2-1 on aggregate to Venezia in the final of the Serie B promotion playoffs. Over five seasons at the club, he would make 161 total appearances with 51 clean sheets.

Last season, Kastrati moved to Eintracht Braunschweig and mostly served as a back-up to team captain Ron-Thorben Hoffmann, making two appearances in Germany’s 2. Bundesliga.

At international level, Kastrati has earned two caps with Albania’s senior national team, and was a member of the squad as recently as March 2026 for FIFA World Cup qualification.

Welcome, Elhan.
