SL2 25/26: Panargiakos 0-4 Athens Kallithea

After two frustrating results in consecutive weeks, AKFC responded with an explosive performance on their trip to the Peloponnese, banging in four goals in an emphatic win over hosts Panargiakos at Argos Municipal Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

A blistering start would produce an early lead, as Andreas Vasilogiannis burst down the right wing and served up a perfect cross for Alexis Golfinos to finish from close range in the 11th minute, marking the 20-year-old striker’s second goal of the season.

Golfinos nearly struck again on a breakaway in the 28th minute, but the ‘keeper would get a hand on the ball to stop the dribble.

The score would remain 0-1 going into the break, but the floodgates would open in the second half.

In the 48th minute, Panargiakos went down to 10 men, after a dangerous challenge on Giannis Sardelis was punished with a straight red card. From the point, AKFC were dominant, and the second goal would come in the 70th minute, when left-back Filimon Frosynis fired at goal and substitute Juan Cantillo put away the rebound.

Just three minutes later, Cantillo created the third goal with a stunning individual move, as the 22-year-old played the ball up and over the head of his marker, powered his way around the man and into the box, and squared it to set up Dimitris Mavrias for the easiest of finishes.

In the 75th minute, Triantafyllos Pasalidis played one-two with Golfinos down the right side and neatly tucked the ball inside the far post to put the result well beyond doubt.

AKFC have a busy week ahead, facing Super League side Kifisia in the Greek Cup on Tuesday 28 October and then hosting Marko in the league on Saturday 1 November.
