Miguel Mellado joins Athens Kallithea FC

Athens Kallithea FC announce the acquisition of Argentinian defensive midfielder Miguel Mellado from Cypriot First Division club AEL Limassol.

Mellado, 31, arrives with extensive experience in the Super League, having spent six seasons with OFI, before the move to AEL last summer.

Born in Buenos Aires, Mellado began his career with Chacarita Juniors and would make 162 total appearances over six years to help the club rise from the third tier to the Primera División.

Mellado joined OFI from Chacarita Juniors on loan for the 2018/19 season, which was extended for the 2019/20 season, and ultimately became a permanent transfer in August 2020. Over six seasons through 2023/24, Mellado made 162 total appearances for OFI, during which time the Cretans finished as high as sixth in the league, which earned them qualification for the UEFA Europa League in 2020/21.

Mellado joined AEL in August 2024 and made 15 league appearances through the first half of the 2024/25 season.
