Lucas Necul joins Athens Kallithea FC

Athens Kallithea FC announce the acquisition of Argentinian attacker Lucas Necul on a free transfer pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

Necul, 24, is a former Argentina youth international with experience in Argentina’s top two divisions playing for Arsenal and Deportivo Madryn, and had one standout season in Super League 2 with Ierapetra in 2021/22 before returning to his home country.

Born in Puerto Madryn, Necul began his professional career with Arsenal, making his first team debut in a Primera División match in April 2018. After the club were relegated, Necul made 17 appearances with one goal in the 2018/19 season to help Arsenal win the Nacional B championship and return to the top flight. Necul would make another 12 appearances for the club over the next two years until he left for Greece in January 2022.

Necul made an instant impact upon joining Ierapetra, scoring seven goals with two assists in 17 appearances in the second half of the 2021/22 season, but in the summer he would return to Argentina with his hometown club Deportivo Madryn.

In the 2023 season, Necul made 24 total appearances with one assist for Madryn in Argentina’s second division.

In international play, Necul was a member of the Argentina Under-23 team that won the 2019 Pan American Games, with Necul scoring in the final against Honduras.

Welcome, Lucas.
