Kostas Kotsaris joins Athens Kallithea FC

Athens Kallithea FC announce the acquisition of goalkeeper Kostas Kotsaris on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Apollon Smyrnis.

Kotsaris, 26, kept 13 clean sheets in the 2022/23 season, third-most in Super League 2. He is a former Greece youth international and a product of the Panathinaikos academy.

Born in Athens, Kotsaris would progress from the academy at Panathinaikos into the first team, eventually making his professional debut at age 19 in a January 2015 cup match. He made his Super League 1 debut in a November 2018 match against Olympiacos, and went on to make five total league appearances in the 2018/19 season, his final appearances before leaving the club in summer 2020.

In September 2020, Kotsaris joined Apollon, and after making three appearances in his debut season, he would emerge as a first-choice ‘keeper for the first time in his professional career, making 16 starts between the posts in the 2021/22 Super League 1 season.

After Apollon were relegated, Kotsaris would record 13 clean sheets in 20 league matches as one of the standout ‘keepers during the 2022/23 Super League 2 season, helping the club to a third-place finish.

At international level, Kotsaris earned 29 youth caps representing Greece from the Under-17 to Under-21 levels.
