Javier Matilla extends contract

Athens Kallithea FC announce that Spanish midfielder Javier Matilla, 34, has exercised an option to remain with the club for the 2023/24 season and has signed a contract extension through the 2024/25 season.

An intense competitor with brilliant vision and technical ability, Matilla joined AKFC from Super League 1 side Volos in January 2023, and he would make 14 league appearances with two goals and two assists in the second half of the 2022/23 season.

Matilla previously spent the majority of his career with Villarreal, Real Betis, and Aris Thessaloniki.
