Dimitrios Metaxas joins Athens Kallithea FC

Athens Kallithea FC announce the acquisition of Greece Under-21 international midfielder Dimitrios Metaxas, 21, on a free transfer following the termination of his contract with Finnish top division club AC Oulu.

Born in Aliveri on the island of Evia, Metaxas began his professional career with Volos, making his first-team debut at the age of 18 in a Greek Cup match in October 2021, and going on to make six appearances in the Super League play-out round in the 2021/22 season.

Metaxas would follow with a breakout season in 2022/23, making 21 league appearances (14 starts) to help Volos finish sixth in the Super League, plus three appearances with one goal in the Greek Cup.

After two-and-a-half seasons with Volos, Metaxas moved to AC Oulu in February 2024, making 24 league appearances (15 starts) with one goal in the 2024 Veikkausliiga season.

In international play, Metaxas has made 12 appearances for the Greece Under-21 national team.
