Athens Kallithea FC announce the acquisition of defender Diamantis Chouchoumis, 31, following the mutual termination of his contract with Kifisia.
Chouchoumis — who has the versatility to play as a left-back or a center-back in a back-three — is a veteran of the Super League, having made 167 top flight appearances for Panathinaikos, Apollon Smyrnis, Panetolikos, Asteras Tripolis, and Kifisia.
Born in Aliveri on the island of Evia, Chouchoumis came through the academy of Panathinaikos and made his first team debut at the age of 18 in October 2012. He would go on to spend five seasons at the club, making 59 total appearances across all competitions, including four appearances in the UEFA Europa League, and was a member of the team that won the 2013/14 Greek Cup.
Chouchoumis would move abroad in summer 2017, winning the Slovakian Cup with Slovan Bratislava in 2017/18 and playing for Vojvodina in the Serbian SuperLiga in 2018/19, before returning to Greece.
Since his return, Chouchoumis has played seven consecutive seasons in the Super League — two seasons with Apollon Smyrnis, two seasons at Panetolikos, two seasons at Asteras Tripolis, and last season at Kifisia, making 137 total top flight appearances over that span.
Welcome, Diamantis.
