Athens Kallithea FC announce that manager Alekos Vosniadis will not return to the club upon expiration of his contract this summer.
Vosniadis joined AKFC in July 2023 and registered 14 wins, five draws, and three losses in 22 league matches, followed by five wins, two draws, and one loss in the promotion playoffs, leading the team to its historic promotion to Super League 1.
The achievement marks Vosniadis’ fourth career promotion to Greece’s top division as a manager.
AKFC club statement from Ted and Peter Philipakos:
“To ultimately move forward in a new direction has been an extraordinarily difficult decision for us to take, not only in light of Aleko’s outstanding work and historic achievement this season, but equally because of our sincere love and respect for him as a person. Aleko is indeed a manager worthy of the first division. His next club will be fortunate to have him. But for our club in this moment, we believed there was a slight advantage with a fresh voice and a different approach. Our relationship with Aleko doesn’t end, it only changes context for now. And he will always remain an important figure in the history of Athens Kallithea FC. Thank you, Aleko.”
