Athens Kallithea FC announce the acquisition of right-back Abdul Rahman Weiss on a free transfer following the mutual termination of his contract with Super League 1 club Volos FC. Weiss, 24, has signed personal terms through the 2023/24 season.
Born in Athens and of Syrian descent, Weiss is a Syria international and former Greece youth international, with 67 career appearances in Greece’s top flight.
Weiss came through the academies of Panathinaikos and Brentford before turning professional with Cretan side Platanias, where he would make 54 total appearances (49 starts) with two goals and seven assists across one season in Super League 1 followed by two seasons in Super League 2.
From Platanias, Weiss earned a transfer back to Super League 1 with OFI Crete, where he would make 39 total appearances (27 starts) over the next two seasons.
After moving to Super League 1 club Volos FC last summer, Weiss made 11 appearances (5 starts) in the ongoing 2022/23 season, with Volos currently fifth in the league table.
In international football, Weiss has earned five caps for Syria’s senior national team, including four appearances in 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification, after representing Greece at the Under-21 level.
Welcome, Abdul.
